Week One Picks & Pans

Okay, it’s Saturday, so we’ve been at this for a week. Time for picks and pans.

Caroline’s favorite attraction: Wind Cave tour. She liked ducking and weaving her way underground. Tim’s favorite: the winding road down the canyon into Sedona.

Caroline’s favorite restaurant. Perogue in Bismarck, because every course was great.  It just edged out Zinc in Albuquerque, where Caroline wishes the fish had been seared just a moment longer. Least favorite restaurant: Church Street Cafe in Albuquerque, with a dishonorable mention for Ruby house in Keystone.

Tim’s favorite restaurant: The Barking Frog Grille in Sedona. Two words: Lamb. Porterhouse.
Tim’s least favorite: Church Street Cafe for me too. Two more words. Stomach. Ache.

Caroline’s favorite hotel: (Note: we stay mainly in Best Westerns because we get a discount.) Sedona. Not quite fair because we upgraded our room after disliking the basic one, but still. Wow. Least favorite: Bismarck. It’s a good hotel, but it’s huge, and you walk for miles. Also, the layout is strange, and you walk even more miles if you get on the wrong side of the banquet halls.

Tim’s favorite hotel: Castle Rock, where I could park right under our window, and we could walk to that amazing liquor store. Also, Michael from front desk was first-rate. Tim’s least favorite: Albuquerque. Difficult to get to by car, especially the first time, and I had to park around the corner, by the sign that said don’t leave valuables in your car.
